About Us

GupShup is the venture of Jitender Chani.

Here is his story in his words:

I was born in India in the state of Assam. My father was an officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF), and hence I spent my childhood in various places around India as my father's job with the IAF meant that every 3 years we'd move to a new place. So, we had to make new friends, go to a new school and try new food from the city we moved to. This along with a lovely mother who never discouraged a boy into her kitchen meant I learned cooking at an early age. Doing what most academically gifted kids do in India at the time, I studied Electronic Engineering and in 2007 I decided to move to the UK to pursue my life long desire of living in another country, learning about a new culture and all things new.

I have spent the last 10 years in the field of Marketing and E-commerce with a leading consumer electronics manufacturer. However, as I grow older I have discovered nothing gives me more pleasure than learning about new food, cooking and sharing it with my close friends and family. Together with my partner, we have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful places in Europe and Asia, and learn about their food & culture.

GupShup is my first venture to bring this love of food to everyone that loves and appreciates good food and wines. The initial focus of GupShup will be on the food of India I grew up eating and travelling.

I want people of Indian origin to feel nostalgic eating my food- taking them back to the food they grew up eating prepared by their mother or grandmother. For others, I would like to take you on a journey to experience the new flavours, but with the confidence that you are experiencing the most authentic Indian food, you could get in London. All prepared using the best quality ingredients and love.
